Accumulated Deficit

Negative Retained Earnings.

If a company loses $5,000 in year one and $4,000 in year 2 and $6,000 in year 3, its retained earnings would be ($15,000) negative $15,000. The earnings and losses retained in the business losses for all years combined would be negative $15,000.
