Washington CPA Requirements

Education Requirements

Credit Requirements: 150 semester units (225 quarter units)

Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate

Additional Requirements: 24 hours sem. in Acct. subjects of which 15 hours must be upper division; 36 sem. hours in business

Residency Requirements

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required

Minimum Age: None

Additional Requirements: It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state

Social Security Requirement: Yes

Educational Requirement: 150 hours including Bachelor's Degree

Participates in International Exam Program: Yes

Experience Requirements: 1 year (2,000 hours) general experience gained through the practice of public accounting and/or employment in industry, academia, or government

Ethics Exam: Must pass AICPA Professional Ethics Exam with at least a 90% and must pass Washington State Ethics & Regulations Exam with at least a 90%
