taking-the-cpa-exam-stay-positive

I found out that I passed AUD on September 9th, so I immediately started studying for BEC.  I've been out of school for a while, so it's not really easy for me to get back into study mode. That being said, I'm happy to be on this CPA Exam adventure and infinitely grateful for the challenge.  I try to stay in a state of gratitude while studying for the CPA Exam which actually propels me forward in my studies. I also find it helpful to refer to some of my favorite inspirational quotes from the novel, The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. I review these often when I need a little encouragement:

It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.

And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.

I think one of the biggest mental challenges while studying for the CPA Exam is the over-arching 18 month CPA Exam intervals.  These intervals can become strenuous when waiting for test scores and trying to figure out if you should start studying for the next section of the CPA Exam or go back and study for the section you didn't pass. In the CPA examination preparation culture, the intervals between exams are notorious for being excruciating to the exam taker who is waiting to hear their scores. You start doubting yourself and get anxious.

I try to think positively and remember that no studying is ever in vain.  I nullify the what ifs of uncertainty' with 'what ifs of positive outcomes.'  Any potential setback in my mind is not a setback but an opportunity to learn more or an opportunity to move forward in the future.  With these sentiments in mind, I begin studying for the next exam - BEC - with a sense of renewal and gratitude.
