CPA Exam Blogger Daniela: Is it April 15th yet?

Daniela resides in the great state of Pennsylvania. She begins her CPA Exam journey with the perspective of a Masters in Accountancy and a new job as a Tax Staff Accountant with a top 100 accounting firm. Daniela just passed FAR on her first try, and is now preparing to tackle AUD!

It’s almost time to start phase two of my CPA journey  Auditing & Attestation.  I just received my Roger CPA Review AUD course in the mail.  I was glad to see that the AUD book is much smaller than the FAR book but I realize that no section of the CPA exam is a light undertaking. I have already scheduled my exam for the day after Memorial Day, Tuesday, May 28th.  This will give me a nice long weekend for extra study time right before the exam.  For FAR, I took Friday off and took the exam on Monday and I feel like that extra time to study really made all the difference.  I am also keeping my fingers crossed that I will be able to pass AUD the first time and avoid the dreaded Clarity Project changes!

In the meantime, I am still right in the middle (well it’s almost over) of my first tax season.  I cannot wait for April 15th to get here already!  My firm will be having a big Employee Appreciation party on the evening of the fifteenth and we all get the next day off.  I will not miss the long hours that we are working right now but I will miss being fed four times a week.  They also had some other nice treats for us throughout tax season like gourmet popcorn, Italian ice, soft pretzels and ice cream… did I mention it might also be diet time after the fifteenth?

Hopefully the next two weeks will fly by and then I will start studying for AUD.  I can’t wait to see what Roger has up his sleeve this time!
