CPA Exam Blogger Daniela: Gearing Up For AUD

Daniela resides in the great state of Pennsylvania. She begins her CPA Exam journey with the perspective of a Masters in Accountancy and a new job as a Tax Staff Accountant with a top 100 accounting firm. Daniela passed FAR on her first try, and is now preparing to tackle AUD!

I’m less than three weeks away from test day and I’m still behind on my studies.  Oh boy! I’m starting to feel the pressure.  I have confidence that I will be able to catch up but in the meantime I’m a little stressed.

On to the good news so far (and hopefully I wont regret saying this) the material in AUD is less difficult than the material in FAR.  By that I mean, so far, Roger has not said anything that I did not understand the first time.  Some of the material in FAR, like the calculation for pensions, went right over my head the first time through.  Plus, I feel like the AUD material is coming back to me more than the FAR material did.  There are still some new things in AUD that I do not remember from school but they are just more in depth than what I originally learned versus completely new material like I encountered in FAR, like governmental or not for profit accounting.

The other big difference is that there are a lot more mnemonics in AUD than there were in FAR.  I believe that a pack of index cards for flash card making are definitely in my near future.  Otherwise, I am keeping the same general study habits that I did in FAR.  I like to watch the videos first, read the material while taking notes and then do the homework.  Hopefully this weekend I will be able to do some studying outside versus being cooped up in the house.  Luckily the Roger CPA Review videos come through great on my smartphone so I can study anywhere!
