Roger Philipp CPA Review |
Competitor's Course |
| LIVE COURSE |
Roger teaches all live classes so you always have excellent instruction; there is no switching of instructors throughout the program. Roger uses his motivational and dynamic teaching style to keep students focused throughout all four sections. |
Students have no control over who their instructors will be for each section. Many ‘live’ classes consist of just an overhead projection with a tape recording for audio. Other live classes include a monotonous lecture from a boring instructor who reads directly from the book. |
| ONLINE COURSE |
Available: 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Filmed from a special 100% LIVE class, we load our ONLINE lectures on our server and make them available to you anytime, anywhere. We are the only review course that offers UNLIMITED viewings of our online course. You can follow our recommended viewing schedule or view each module according to your needs. This flexible program allows maximum adaptability for your schedule and lifestyle. |
Online course consists of watching power point slides with a background audio. The course schedule is not flexible and you may view each lecture only once. NO unconditional repeat policy is offered! |
| USB DRIVE COURSE |
Our USB course is the portable way to study for the CPA Exam. Weighing only 5.6 ounces the external drive can fit in the palm of your hand. Just plug it in the USB port of your computer, and this flexible format allows you to study at your own pace right on your computer - Internet access is not necessary following installation. You can pause, fast-forward, rewind and watch it as many times as you like! Use it while you commute, in hotel rooms, and anywhere you access your computer. Filmed from our 100% LIVE classroom. |
NOT AVAILABLE |
| UNCONDITIONAL REPEAT |
Our Live course students get 1 year from the start of their first class to take each class a second time either live or online. Our online students receive an additional 8 months of unlimited viewings. There are NO homework or attendance requirements, and NO mandatory material fees! |
NOT AVAILABLE! In order to qualify for a ‘repeat’ you must attend ALL classes and complete ALL homework with 90% of it completed correctly. If you miss a class: NO REPEAT! In addition, if you do happen to qualify for a repeat, you will need to pay repeat costs of $700+ (Admin fee and mandatory materials costs of $135 per book). |
| MATERIALS |
All of our materials and lectures are updated every 6 months by the licensed CPA's on our editorial staff. The materials are written by your instructor and are clear, concise and complete. They are designed to follow along with the lecture and do not contain superfluous optional chapters. All of our course prices include the materials you need to PASS and SUCCEED! |
Materials are frequently outdated and include "optional" unnecessary chapters. Books are not written by YOUR instructor and often read like a dictionary. |
| TEACHING STYLE |
Energetic, passionate, humorous delivery keeps you focused! Roger understands the entire exam, not just one lecture, section, or part and can inter-relate how subjects are tested in different sections of the exam. |
It's a gamble. Teaching styles vary by instructors and there is no guarantee you get a good teacher who will keep you awake. You will have four different teachers for four different topics and you have no control over who your instructors will be. |
| EXPERIENCE |
19 years personally teaching 100% LIVE CPA review in over 4,500 lectures to over 35,000 students. |
Varies by instructor. Some teachers have little experience teaching 100% LIVE. Most just have experience reciting material from an overhead projector to the students. Live only in some parts of CA. |
| PASS RATES |
Students who take Roger achieve the highest pass rates! 86% of our students pass the CPA exam section they are studying for. |
They claim ‘double’ the national average. (That's less than 30% for all 4 parts…) |
| PRACTICAL APPROACH |
Breaks down both simulation and multiple choice question types in class. All information is broken down clearly and concisely into an understandable format. |
Only multiple-choice questions are covered in class. |
| Visit a Free Class! |
Come and Compare! We encourage you to visit any class before you commit to our program. We are so confident in our program that we encourage you to visit any class for FREE! No obligation, no anything. Just come in and visit. We bring sample materials to the first class of each part to enable all FREE class participants to follow the lecture, but if you give us a heads up, we can bring some to ANY class you wish to attend. We encourage you to shop around. Check out the competition's class then come visit our classroom. Once you make the comparison you'll see why you just can't compare! Roger keeps you awake, motivated, informed, and learning. If you are going to spend over 100 hours in class…Why not have FUN while you PASS? Things you'll want to compare while you decide which review course will work for you:
- Style of Presentation
- Materials Offered
- Repeat Policies and Procedures
- Course Fees
You will need to ask yourself as you compare review courses "What is going to keep me motivated and awake for 100 hours in the classroom?" Roger's live lecture brings the materials to life in a way that is easy to understand and retain. Topics are presented step by step and all problem types are broken down in class, not just multiple choice. The materials are clear, concise and complete. The course includes comprehensive books for all parts as well as specially designed materials to complement the live lecture. Roger focuses on the areas that are consistently and heavily tested on the exam to give you ample practice before the exam. Roger's live lectures are competitively priced, offers a fully refundable $100 deposit to enroll, and payment plans are available.
Ask Questions about other courses before you choose.
Sample Questions to ask for comparison are:
- Will you fall asleep in class, or while watching the material on cd-rom or online?
- Are all of your teachers equally engaging and informative?
- Can you sit in on ANY class, or only the first one because they have “special” instructors for the first day only and different instructors for the rest of your real course?
- Do you have mandatory homework in areas no longer tested which you must do to qualify for your repeat?
- WHAT is their repeat policy?
- Do you HAVE to buy new materials to qualify for a repeat? What if the material hasn’t significantly changed?
- How much do the materials cost?
- Is your class live? Or, do you have an instructor who uses an overhead, but doesn’t teach?
- Does your repeat expire? If so, when?
- Do you have mandatory homework?
- Do you have mandatory attendance?
- What happens if you get sick?
- What is their make-up policy?
- How do you qualify for your repeat?
