Education Requirements

Credit Requirements: 150 semester units (225 quarter units).

Minimum Degree: A Bachelor's Degree with 24 or 30 semester hours in accounting courses (depending on school's accreditation) and 24 in business courses.

Additional Requirements: For licensure: A two-inch by two-inch passport photograph, front view, without a hat, taken within 30 days prior to filing an application; and Baccalaureate degree in business with a minimum of 24 semester units in accounting at undergraduate or graduate level and a minimum of 24 semester units of business courses (other than accounting) at the undergraduate level from a College of Business with a Level 2 accreditation. [OR] Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 30 semester units in accounting and a minimum of 24 semester units of business courses (other than accounting) at the undergraduate or graduate level from an educational institution with a Level 1 accreditation. [OR] Graduate degree in business with a minimum of 24 semester units of undergraduate level accounting courses, and a minimum of 15 hours of graduate level accounting courses which included coursework in financial accounting, auditing, taxation and management accounting [OR] Graduate degree with concentration in accounting from an accounting program with Level 3 accreditation.

Residency Requirements

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required.

Minimum Age: 18

Additional Requirements: It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state.
