Education Requirements

Credit Requirements: 150 semester units (225 quarter units) may reduce experience requirement for licensure, but are not needed to sit for the exam.

Minimum Degree: Baccalaureate with 150 semester units or Graduate degree.

Additional Requirements: Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 24 semester units in accounting [OR] Baccalaureate degree with 150 semester units, 36 of which must be in accounting [OR] Master's degree with a minimum of 24 semester units in accounting. Prior to Jan. 1, 2012, First time CPA Exam takers before Dec. 31, 2011, must complete their work experience within 10 years (120 months) of application for the CPA certificate. Effective Jan. 1, 2012, All CPA candidates must have completed their one year work experience requirement within five years (60 months) of the date of application.

Residency Requirements

Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is not required.

Minimum Age: 18

Additional Requirements: Candidate must be a Pennsylvania resident, employee under supervision of licensee, a Pennsylvania college graduate, or keep office(s) in the state.
