The requirements listed below relate only to eligibility to sit for and take the Uniform CPA Examination in the State of Iowa.

To be eligible to take the Certified Public Accountant examination or reexamination the applicant must possess the following qualifications:

Education Requirements

Hours required to sit for the exam
150 semester hours (225 quarter hours) required for certification but not required to sit for the exam.

Minimum degree required:

Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements:

Baccalaureate degree with minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting or business above introductory level

Baccalaureate degree with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting above introductory level and a minimum of 24 semester hours of business related courses

Graduate degree with a concentration in accounting or business with at least 24 semester hours of accounting courses above introductory level

 

 

Residency Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is not required

Minimum age: none

It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state.
