The requirements listed below relate only to eligibility to sit for and take the Uniform CPA Examination in the State of Illinois.

To be eligible to take the Certified Public Accountant examination or reexamination the applicant must possess the following qualifications:

Education Requirements

Hours required to sit for the exam
150 semester hours (225 quarter hours) with Baccalaureate

Minimum degree required:

Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements:

Baccalaureate degree with at least 24 semester hours in accounting at undergraduate level and at least 24 hours of business courses at the undergraduate level or

Graduate degree with at least 24 semester hours in accounting at undergraduate level or 15 semester hours at the graduate level (based on AACSB accreditation)

Courses must be completed and degree earned prior to application submission. Must submit final transcripts with application.

 

Residency Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is not required

Minimum age: none

It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state.
