The requirements listed below relate only to eligibility to sit for and take the Uniform CPA Examination in the State of Hawaii.

To be eligible to take the Certified Public Accountant examination or reexamination the applicant must possess the following qualifications:

Education Requirements

Hours required to sit for the exam
150 semester hours (225 quarter hours) needed for certification, but not needed to sit for the exam

Minimum degree required:

Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements:

Degree with major in a subject other than accounting.
Must have 18 semester hours of upper division accounting

Must meet minimum educational requirements at time of application or expect to meet them within 120 days from date NTS is printed

Minimum of 24 semester hours in upper division accounting courses and 24 semester hours in upper division non-accounting business courses needed for certification

Residency Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is not required

Minimum age: 18

It is not neccessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state.
