The requirements listed below relate only to eligibility to sit for and take the Uniform CPA Examination in the District of Columbia.

To be eligible to take the Certified Public Accountant examination or reexamination the applicant must possess the following qualifications:

Education Requirements

Hours required to sit for the exam
150 semester hours (225 quarter hours) needed to sit for the exam

Minimum degree required:

Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements:

Degree with concentration in accounting and a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting, auditing or federal taxation courses.

Residency Requirements

U.S. Citizenship not required

Minimum age: 18

It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state.
