The requirements listed below relate only to eligibility to sit for and take the Uniform CPA Examination in the State of California.

To be eligible to take the Certified Public Accountant examination or reexamination the applicant must possess the following qualifications:

Education Requirements

Hours required to sit for the exam
24 semester hours in accounting, and 24 semester hours in business-related courses are required. 120 Semester hours are required to be certified under pathway 1 in California only – 150 semester hours are required to be certified until pathway 2 for all jurisdictions.

Minimum degree required:

Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements:

Residency Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is not required

Minimum age: none

It is not neccessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state.
