The requirements listed below relate only to eligibility to sit for and take the Uniform CPA Examination in the State of Alabama.

To be eligible to take the Certified Public Accountant examination or reexamination the applicant must possess the following qualifications:

Education Requirements

Hours required to sit for the exam
150 semester hours (225 quarter hours) and Baccalaureate degree
OR
Graduate Degree

Minimum degree required:

Baccalaureate degree

Additional Requirements:

Minimum of 33 semester hours in accounting (excluding introductory courses)
and
27 semester hours in business courses
(excluding accounting)
and
3 semester hours in business law

 

Residency Requirements

U.S. Citizenship required

Minimum age: 19

It is not necessary to be a resident, employee, or keep office(s) in the state.
